TER·PENE

/ˈtər-ˌpēn/ · noun · (ter-peen)

The natural molecules behind the aromas you already love. Plants make them to attract pollinators, fend off pests and cope with heat and sun, and every lemon, pine needle, mango and hop cone carries its own blend. We use them to build bold, refreshing flavor.

terpenes identified in nature, the largest and most diverse family of aroma compounds plants make.

AROMA IS FLAVOR

Most of what you call taste is actually smell. Terpenes are the part of a fruit your nose recognises first.

PLANTS, NOT SUGAR

We build each flavor from natural terpenes and natural flavor instead of leaning on sugar or juice.

NOTHING ELSE ADDED

No THC. No CBD. Zero cannabinoids, zero caffeine. It's sparkling water that smells incredible.

How nature builds a smell

FIVE CARBONS.
ENDLESS FLAVORS.

Every terpene is built from the same five-carbon piece, called isoprene. Snap two together and you get a monoterpene: light, bright and quick to reach your nose. Snap three together and you get a sesquiterpene: heavier, warmer, slower to fade. The shape the pieces fold into decides whether you smell lemon, pine, lavender or black pepper.

FLAVOR HAPPENS
IN LAYERS.

Light molecules evaporate first and hit your nose the moment you crack the can. Heavier ones linger and give the flavor its body. What you smell first is not always what stays with you, and that hand-off is where complexity lives.

0 SEC · THE CRACK

TOP NOTES

Monoterpenes. Highly volatile: they boil off around 150–185°C and drift out of the can at room temperature. Bright citrus, fresh pine, sweet floral lift.

limonene · pinene · ocimene
THE SIP

THE HEART

Rounder monoterpenes fill in the middle: ripe fruit, soft florals, green herbs. This is where a flavor stops being “citrus” and starts being lemon.

myrcene · linalool · terpinolene
THE FINISH

BODY & DEPTH

Sesquiterpenes. Heavier, boiling around 250–280°C, so they stick around. Warm pepper, dry wood, a whisper of hops that keeps the finish from going flat.

Meet the molecules

YOU'VE SMELLED
ALL OF THESE.

Eight of the most common terpenes in the plant world: what they smell like, and where you've already met them.

The complexity

IT'S NOT ONE MOLECULE. IT'S THE BLEND.

Run a real mango or lemon through a lab and you don't get one peak. You get dozens. A few big ones set the theme. The tiny ones, often under a percent or two, give it personality. That's why a single lab-made compound smells like a candle, and a whole fruit smells alive.

Ratios beat volume

A balanced spread of terpenes tastes fuller than a bigger dose of just one. Harmony, not horsepower.

Small shifts, new fruit

Nudge limonene up and a blend goes bright citrus. More ocimene, more tropical. A touch of caryophyllene adds peppery depth.

More isn't more

Aroma doesn't scale in a straight line. Double a terpene and it can turn harsh instead of twice as good, so we build for balance.

Fresh matters

Terpenes are delicate. Light, air and heat flatten them over time, which is why a just-zested lemon smells so much louder than an old one.

FAQ

CURIOUS?

The short answers are below. Anything else, email hello@drinkterpd.com.

Will this get me high?

No. Terp’d contains zero cannabinoids: no THC, no CBD. Terpenes are aroma molecules found in fruits, herbs and plants of every kind.

So what is a terpene, really?

The compound that makes a lemon smell like a lemon and pine smell like pine. We use natural terpenes to build flavor instead of sugar.

Aren’t terpenes a cannabis thing?

Cannabis happens to be rich in terpenes, but so are lemons, pine trees, hops, lavender and black pepper. Terpenes are aroma compounds; cannabinoids like THC and CBD are a completely different family of molecules. Terp’d has none.

Why does the same terpene show up in different flavors?

Because flavor is about the blend. The same few molecules in different ratios, plus trace compounds, read as completely different fruits to your nose.

Is there caffeine in it?

None. No caffeine, no taurine, no stimulants. Just sparkling water and flavor.

How is it zero sugar and zero calories?

Flavor comes from natural flavor and natural terpenes, with a touch of sucralose. Nothing to decode on the label.

Where can I buy it?

Retail is expanding now. Use the store finder above, or email sales@drinkterpd.com if you want Terp’d on your shelves.
